    Instructions
    
                - Peel the pears but do not core them
- Simmer, covered, for about 15 minutes in the water, sugar and cinnamon
- Add the wine and continue to cook gently for a further 15 minutes or until pears are cooked through
- Remove pears to a serving dish and reduce liquid to a light syrup. Remove cinnamon sticks if you wish
- Pour over pears and chill thoroughly

                Serve very cold with whipped cream. Serves 4.
