PEARS in RED WINE

small pears

ozs
sugar

mls
water

cinnamon sticks

mls
good red wine
Instructions
Peel the pears but do not core them
Simmer, covered, for about 15 minutes in the water, sugar and cinnamon
Add the wine and continue to cook gently for a further 15 minutes or until pears are cooked through
Remove pears to a serving dish and reduce liquid to a light syrup. Remove cinnamon sticks if you wish
Pour over pears and chill thoroughly
Recipe Notes
Serve very cold with whipped cream. Serves 4.
