- ½ cup sugar
- 3 tsp water
- 4 eggs
- 1 t vanilla extract
- 500 mls milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 slices of oldish bread
- Sultanas and peel optional

Instructions
- In a 2lb bread tin dissolve sugar and water and heat to form a caramel. Whilst liquid tilt the tin so that the bottom and some pf the sides are coated with the caramel. Leave to set
- Mix eggs, milk, vanilla essence, and sugar.
- Crumble bread into the mix. Add fruit if using
- Pour into pan and bake in oven at 200 C for 15 -20 mins until bread is browned and crisp and custard is set
- Turn out and serve
