Ingredients
- 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts + ½ cup sultanas optional
- 1 cup chopped apples these can be gently pre-cooked
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 t plain flour plus more for dusting
- 1 t cinnamon
- 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
- 1 egg lightly beaten
- 1 T coarse sugar

Instructions
- Pre-heat oven to 200 C and line baking tin with paper
- Mix apples, pecans, brown sugar, cinnamon and flour
- Roll out pastry to a rectangle some 12” by 9”
- Mark pastry very lightly into thirds lengthwise
- Using a sharp knife make horizontal cuts 1” apart along the two outer segments
- Spread apple mix down central segment leaving about ½” at either end
- Fold top ½” down over the filling. Then fold the first right hand strip over the filling at a slight angle, followed by the left. Continue in this way to form a plait folding up and tucking in the bottom flap
- Transfer strudel to the baking tray, brush with the beaten egg, sprinkle with coarse sugar and bake for 15- 20 mins until golden brown
