  1. Brown the meat with the onions in a large frying pan
  2. Add garlic and curry powder and cook for 2-3 minutes more. Remove from heat and stir in chutney and sultanas.
  3. Soak bread in 200 mls of the milk and when soft stir it into the beef mixture
  4. Tip meat mixture into a 2-litre shallow baking dish, or individual pots, pressing it well down
  5. Mix remaining milk with the eggs and beat lightly, adjusting seasoning to taste.
  6. Pour custard over the beef and bake at 180 C for 30-40 minutes until mixture is piping hot and the top golden brown.
